Hey there, I'm Raj!

 

I’m the accidental founder of a boutique, award-winning, media, communications, and events brand, called ANOKHI LIFE, which launched with a quarterly print glossy magazine way back in 2002 - the first of its kind in the world, that was focused on pop culture, lifestyle, and entertainment, about the North American South Asian community.  

I say “accidental” because

 

my training up until then, had been in how to be a good wife and mother. Yes, I’m not kidding. I was groomed from an early age to have an arranged marriage, that brought me from the United Kingdom to Toronto, Canada in 1992.

Little did I know, that I would give it all up 10 years later, and with a 5 year old son in tow, to become the matriarch of a boutique brand that would become game changing in its own right, innovating an ecosystem that would meet at the intersection of 2 cultures.

 

The magazine went on to do media campaigns with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger, Nelly Furtado, and Dita Von Teese but to name a few, and hosted events that saw the attendance of people like Priyanka Chopra, Freida Pinto, Hannah Simone, and Robin Sharma among many others.

 

The brand expanded to include a robust online blog with over 500,000 thousand unique visitors a month,

 

a combined social media network of over 1 million members, a weekly newsletter with over 100,000 subscribers, 3 published coffee table books, and a diverse events portfolio that included fashion shows, film premieres, and red carpet galas, of which The ANOKHI Awards 2016, was the most successful to date, with a documented media impressions count of 3.4 billion, yes that’s with a B.

 

I have also worked with a host of Fortune 500s for their media, marketing and event campaigns. Companies like:

And I’ve gotten wonderful testimonials for my work, from well-known personalities, corporations, and even from the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. 

In 2011, I launched my personal namesake brand,

 

because I noticed that I had become too synonymous with the ANOKHI brand, and I wanted to expand my portfolio beyond that footprint and command my own worth.

 

This served me well, because I garnered the reputation of being the celebrity whisperer, where I had an uncanny ability to tap into their trust when interviewing them. They would share aspects of their life that you couldn’t Google about.

 

This led to upcoming entertainment personalities, executives and entrepreneurs to start contacting me for coaching in media, public speaking, communications, and branding – another accidental turn of events, which led me in 2017, to making this my primary focus, because of the tremendous results that I was getting helping people transform their lives.

 

I was more excited about this than interviewing and hob-knobbing with celebrities. Really, I kid you not!

 

I created a transformative 11-step system through this experience, aimed at creating multi-generational, holistic leadership, through knowledge, action, and accountability, that incorporated mindset & clarity, identity, branding, image building, pr, communications, marketing, advocacy, networking, and community building.

 

In December of last year, I decided to expand my one-on-one service to an online learning academy called The Open Chest Confidence Academy, where my goal is to distill this 11-step one-on-one service, into courses, programs, and events over the next few years.

 

My big picture vision is to replace the acutely broken, top down leadership ideology that dominates corporate infrastructure, that has resulted in fracturing society, by empowering the few, through slaving the rest of us.

 

I believe in an all-encompassing, inclusive, and uplifting approach to empowering everyone to perform at their best, by being invited to the table, because the communal culture that this imbibes, results in dividends to the mind, body, and soul of the workforce, which filters over to client service, which feeds the bottom line.  

 

My training today is going to focus on one of the 11 transformative steps, namely the branding piece.
